Position Summary: The Zonal Collection Manager plays a pivotal role in overseeing and managing the collection activities within a specific geographical zone. This position requires a strategic thinker with strong leadership skills and a deep understanding of collection processes and regulations. The Zonal Collection Manager is responsible for driving collection targets, managing a team of collection agents, and ensuring compliance with company policies and legal requirements.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Strategic Planning: Develop and implement strategies to achieve collection targets within the assigned zone. Analyze data and market trends to identify opportunities for improving collection efficiency.
  2. Team Management: Recruit, train, and supervise a team of collection agents. Provide coaching and guidance to team members to ensure optimal performance and adherence to company policies and procedures.
  3. Performance Monitoring: Monitor the performance of collection agents and track key metrics such as collection efficiency, delinquency rates, and recovery rates. Implement corrective actions as necessary to address performance issues and meet targets.
  4. Customer Relations: Handle escalated customer inquiries and complaints related to collection activities. Foster positive relationships with customers to encourage timely repayment and minimize defaults.
  5. Compliance: Ensure compliance with relevant laws, regulations, and internal policies governing debt collection practices. Stay updated on changes in regulations and implement necessary adjustments to collection strategies and procedures.
  6. Reporting: Prepare regular reports on collection performance and present findings to senior management. Provide insights and recommendations for improving collection processes and achieving targets.
  7. Risk Management: Identify potential risks associated with the collection process and develop mitigation strategies to minimize losses. Monitor portfolio quality and take proactive measures to prevent accounts from becoming delinquent.
  8. Collaboration: Collaborate with other departments such as credit risk management, legal, and operations to streamline collection processes and resolve issues effectively.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in finance, business administration, or a related field. Advanced degree or professional certification (e.g., Certified Credit Executive) is a plus.
  • Proven experience in collections management, preferably in a financial institution or lending organization.
  • Strong leadership and team management skills with the ability to motivate and inspire team members.
  • Excellent communication and negotiation skills, with the ability to interact effectively with customers and internal stakeholders.
  • Sound knowledge of debt collection laws, regulations, and best practices.
  • Analytical mindset with proficiency in data analysis and reporting tools.
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic environment and adapt to changing priorities.
  • Results-oriented approach with a track record of achieving collection targets and driving performance improvements.
