Must Have:
● Strong online portfolio to demonstrate past work experience that has left a lasting impact on product decisions is a must have
● Demonstrated ability of analyzing and interpreting data from multiple sources (user testing, analytics, surveys) and turning it into clear, actionable insights that drive product decisions.
What you need to do:
● Be the voice of the user and drive user understanding, empathy and insights in every team you collaborate with and every meeting you’re a part of.
● Work closely and support various teams within the newsroom with user research thereby ensuring user insights are integrated into editorial workflows and decision-making processes.
● Design and conduct news content specific research by using primary research techniques like field interviews, focus groups, surveys etc. to gain deeper understanding of user content needs and preferences
● Design and conduct surveys, user callings to evaluate the impact of content & product changes and gather insights at scale
● Plan, moderate and create online community groups with users to gather quick feedback
● Synthesise and communicate research findings to inform business decisions via presentations, reports, workshops and any other novel, creative approaches that you invent
● Manage multiple stakeholder needs, interests, priorities, and expectations effectively and sensitively
● Help increase awareness and basic capabilities in content and user research across teams and increase user empathy across the newsroom
● Reflect upon our existing research tools and methods, build systems and experiment with new methods that complement and differentiate us from other product research companies
Who you need to be:
● BA/BS or MA/MS in user experience, market research, ethnography, behavioral science etc.
● Minimum 5-6 years of experience in primary consumer research setting and proven expertise with qualitative research methods
● Prior experience and a deep understanding of news or journalism is highly preferred
● Strong ability to plan and execute both qualitative (in-depth interviews, ethnographic studies, usability testing) and quantitative (surveys, data analysis) research to gather insights.
● Skilled in communicating research findings to both technical and non-technical stakeholders, ensuring that user insights are effectively understood and acted upon.
● Intellectual curiosity – initiative to dig into the who, why, where, what & how
● Ability to manage multiple research projects simultaneously, keeping track of timelines, stakeholders, and deliverables.
● Have excellent written and verbal communication skills.
● Be excited, helpful, and comfortable giving and receiving critique.
● Fluency in English and Hindi is mandatory, & Gujarati is preferable.
